SCORE - Houston Chapter

Founded in 1964, SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed.  We have 320 chapters throughout the United States and its territories, with over 11,000 volunteers nationwide dedicated to the success of small business men and women. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

The Houston Chapter of SCORE was established in 1965. With more than 100 volunteers covering the 10 county Houston area, we offer:

SCORE mentors bring real-world business experience to their clients. They are working or retired business owners, executives and managers who have been through the same challenges and decisions that many entrepreneurs are facing today. Whatever their background, SCORE counselors share a belief that small business owners are more likely to succeed if they have a business mentor to guide them.

Most mentors have owned and operated their own businesses or served in management positions for the Houston area’s top companies. In addition, SCORE business mentors offer valuable expertise in specific industries and on topics such as developing a business plan, securing financing, day-to-day management and charting business growth. We endeavor to match the knowledge and experience of the mentors with that required by the entrepreneur.

All SCORE mentors honor the client’s right to proprietary and confidential information. All discussions and documents remain confidential. Each year, SCORE mentors reaffirm their commitment to protecting the privacy of client information by signing the association’s code of ethics.

In Houston, SCORE shares offices and works closely with the SBA. We partner with numerous organizations who share our goal of helping small businesses succeed. SCORE Houston mentors aspiring entrepreneurs at 13 locations and teaches about 120 workshops yearly in 16 different locations around the Houston area.
